Karia Village

Karya is the larger village. It follows the pace of tourist development without betraying its traditions and offers many choices for accommodation, food and leisure. The village’s churches and museums are worth your attention. Many cultural events are organised there (the Traditional Rural Wedding, the Night of “Riganada”, Carnival events, dance activities etc) Karya is also known for the famous knitting technique of Karya which the knitters use to create real pieces of art. A little higher there is the abandoned settlement of Rekatsinata that is worth visiting.

The neighborhood

Kaklamanata, an area in the upper neighborhood of Karia which is consisted mainly from old traditional buildings, some of them abandoned and others reconstructed.

As it is located at the edge of the village, the nature is invading inside the neighborhood, and the sounds of the different species of the fauna of the area is quite intense. Undoubtedly the few inhabitants live in to the nature with the calmness and the serenity being particularly felt.

The view from above is unique in every season. The flora of mountainous Lefkada is impressive, with the green color of different shades. From top to top, mountains and hills are covered with a veil of plants and trees landscaping the nature of middle mountainous Lefkada.

Each visit is a journey to nature and time.
